Wekfest - Nagoya, Japan

Updated: May 25

What might be the best car show I attend this year.

It had been years since I attended this show. Wow! This show was incredible.

First, I have to thank Wekfest for granting me media access. There is nothing better than getting to walk through before the crowds. I love being able to spend time looking at a car from different angles and taking my time on how I want to shoot a car. When you have to shoot with a ton of people around, you just want to be happy that no one is in front of you when you take the pic.

But back to my early access. I walked through the entire show 3 times looking at all the cars and planning how I was going to attack this massive venue. Massive kinda feels like an understatement with just how large the place was and how many cars they were able to fit in.

One of the great things with a venue this size and having just the right number of cars was that they were able to space out the cars without having to stack all the cars on top of eachother. It was really refreshing how well planned out everything appeared to be.

Back to the event.

Starting in the far corner was Garage Active with a handful of their beautiful all carbon GTRs. These are definitely the ultimate form and function type of build. It's still amazing to me that they take these cars not only out on the street but the track too.

Flanking the Garage Active cars was this crazy clean s13 on display (which i'd see the next day sliding at Doridore)

With the back of the event covered it was time to start walking rows.

I think the biggest thing that stood out for me was how clean all the cars were. Most meets/events I attend will have a group or sometime if I'm lucky a majority of the cars which will be really nice or clean and then a handful or more of ok cars or filler cars. This wasn't the case with Wekfest.

Every single car was perfect. In their own way.

Now, not every car was my style, or the type of car that I'm into but that doesn't mean I can appreciate them for what they are or how they were built. There was nothing skipped when it came to the attention to detail on these cars.

I was happy to see a ton of clean paint instead of a bunch of wrapped cars. Really the only cars that were wrapped were the itashi cars or the one sporting a livery.

Two of my favorite cars were the pair of R33s parking next to each other, both were super rare. One a 400r the other a LM, now if you don't know the LM had less than 200 total units and the 400r being even more rare with something like only 40. These are just crazy to see and again two of my favorites One of the other cars I really like and a car I've been feeling more and more was this super clean S15. I've been slowly moving to the S15 over a FD for a car I'd like to own. Although maybe I'll just do a widebody FD and a stock body S15. we'll see.

Walking row after row there were so many cars that I enjoyed.

I took a quick break from the show to shoot a couple cars that I had set up a shoot with. The location couldn't have been any better and the shoot was a ton of fun. More on this later.

After the 86/JZX shoot I started to see some of the cars from the event cruising through to take pics at the pier. S

After shooting a handful I headed back around so I could get some of the rollout and close out the event.

As you can see Wekfest Japan was an awesome event with a ton of perfect cars. Now I have to see how I can add this to my yearly events I attend.

Let me know what you thought of the event. Below I'll link the vid.

Everything else. Enjoy!!
